It’s hard to go to an A.A or N.A meeting and discuss racism as it relates to wanting to relapse. That is one of my reasons for creating poetic recovery. Here so can be me and not be harassed for discussing the issues that make me want to use. I have sat in many meetings and listen to White folkd talk about wanting to use because they are stress but want to deny me my space for discussing the urge to use living in a racist society. How many white alcoholics and addicts got jobs coming right off the streets in astounding, I have degrees with over 10 years clean and sober and it took years for me to get a job.

So I have Poetic Recovery as a place to address the issues that hurt. While not being a replacement any self help Program it’s also an aide for those need to be adequately heard and supported."}
